Ok I was there and this was the best Shakedown that I ever attended. I havn't as of yet listened to a recording of this so I'll refrain from commenting on how good it is. I personally have a thing for 78-82 Shakedowns but I do remember finally hearing one here that could compete. The wild thing was that this place really was Shakedown Street with the patrols of riot police everywhere.

Well the first one at Red Rocks was outstanding but I think the 9-7-85 and 6-14-83 were better.

Ahhhh yes, good show....

[insert daydream bubble]

We were driving an old beat up Datsun B210, it was years past it's useful life span, and we were trying to squeeze one more trip out of it. Luckily by the time we got to Pitt we were in bumper to bumper traffic of people going to the shows. The motor gave out (bad bearings on the crank shaft from what we could tell from the vibrations and whumpita-whumpita) and the van behind us pushed us from the off-ramp all the way to a parking space in a nearby parking garage. We peeled off the ID and license plates, and caught a ride after the next night. We never heard from it again.

Thinking about it now, that was some of the problems the cities were having with the concerts. Folks like me leaving their cars (i.e. trash) around for someone else to pick up. Honestly, my group was very clean and we always carried around extra trash bags and kept the scene clean, but we didn't have any money for the car so we hoped it would RIP by whomever came upon it.

Nice Shakedown. Nice matrix mix. Nice jam at the end. Good clean fun!

I don't remember it being extra special back then (I didn't have tapers tickets so I was out to have some ripping good fun, no responsibilities!)
